Reliability

Control Panel
IX Hosting uses proprietary H-Sphere control panel, an unbelievably easy to use, icon-based interface. Among its greatest features are multiple domain management, real-time email management (autoresponders included), and a password protected directory manager.
Customer Support
Among all IX Hosting's other guarantees is a 1 Hour Response guarantee, promising that a technical support representative will contact you within 1 hour of you sending in an email support ticket. And if for some reason they fail to respond within that time, they'll calculate a partial refund of that month's fees based on how long they made you wait. But we think that it's better to contact the 24/7 toll-free telephone and live web chat support instead of submitting a query ticket.

Continuing our previous post, the transition to a new data center was pretty smooth and took only 2 days. We didn't lose our data and already noticed an increase in performance when dealing with big databases. Also, we recently noticed that now they provide database support for basic plans, when we signed up they did not have this option so we purchased business plan. With business plan we get 8 dedicated ip addresses, what more can anyone ask? We believe this is one of the best web hosting providers in the world.

We've been using this hosting providers for 4 months. So far server uptime was on average 99.4%, slightly less than promised. But they are moving to a new data center at the end of march and we're expecting more reliable and faster servers. Overall, I would recommend this company to everyone.

When I first started out with IX about two years ago they had some issues with reliability and service. These were sorted out over a period of about two months and since then the only problem I have had with them is with email.
They won't let me send email through my account if I happen to be on a blacklisted IP. I can understand them not receiving an email for me if this is the case but why can I set up my site and add articles etc. but can't send an email?
The owner of this site helped me out with that one. I set up Google Apps for domains and everything is going fine now. The fact that IX give you 8 dedicated IP addresses helps as does the ability to add custom DNS entries from the control panel.
I have my main business site on a different host but IX is good enough that I signed up for another 2 years just the other day for my other sites.

They're cheap, but for a reason.
The database seemed to crash almost every day. It would barely handle 20 concurrent users and since it's shared, it would fail frequently due to other sites that used it.
Support was ok, but never managed to fix anything. Instead they mostly made excuses.
I'll avoid and find something more reliable instead.

I have been with IX for the past 2+ years. During this time I have registered 4 domains without any problems. I have put up and maintain 3 web sites with 100+ pages to support. They have never lost any of my pages or reverted back to old copies of my sites. I have installed a number of cgi applications again with no problems - all worked well. I have had some minor slowness a few times with my email - but nothing to complain about as my office email is much slower. I would recommend this hosting service to others, the price is right and with the plan I have the price will never change.

During the 8 months I have used IX Web Hosting for one of my sites I have had no difficulties whatever. I use a Windows plan for hosting audio/video material. I have never experienced delays or slow connections when accessing the material from Europe. I have never used support because I know how to set up a web site and never had any difficulties that required support.

The primary reason I chose IX was that it provides 8 free dedicated ips and figured that its webhosting, database servers, emails, and so on would just be like any other SHARED web hosting companies: problems will occur, but within a limit their customers can accept. Dedicated IPs are extremely important to me because the army of Internet watchdogs here in the Chinese mainland uses their notorious Great Firewall of China (GFW) to block the IP addresses where any contents they find serverely disagreeable are hosted. Of course I don't want to have neighbors who host adult contents (prohibited by IX) or politically contentious posts on a shared IP that the watchdogs will very likely black out, if traffic to that IP raises their eyebrows (they even block Opera's My Opera Community!).
I'd still like to recommend IX to people like me, who:
a. unfortunately live in the Chinese mainland and in the fear of their sites being "shielded" by GFW;
b. just host several WordPress blogs and a not-very-much-visited bbs/blogging community;
c. knows basic facts about shared webhosting, can handle few lines of php codes, and much experienced in cyberspace and blogasphere.
I think and by all accounts the biggest selling point of IX's plans is its free dedicated IP addresses.

Having just initiated a basic www site on IX with their low end package. I can say no problems. For the money it is excellent. Everything, including the domain name propagation, was automatic and worked. The whole process from starting to pages on the www was < 30 minutes.
