I thought it would be nice to get my older daughter her first piece of fine jewelry. She is pretty much full grown (hasn't gained a millimeter in over a year). She is far less careless and destructive than she once was (we *still* haven't found that tiny diamond chip from her ring that fell behind the couch two years ago). And her taste in jewelry has matured (it is actually quite similar to my wife's, although my daughter would kill me for saying so.).
After being dragged to countless jewelry stores by my wife, I now have developed some idea of what to look for in terms of style and quality. This training process only took twenty years. That is the sensitive kind of guy I am.
My wife and daughters favor jewelry that is unique and understated. Most of the on-line stores I have visited don't offer this kind of merchandise. The proprietors of these emporiums all seem to have graduated from the same "More Rocks Good, Big Rocks Better" school of design. In fact, the inventory at a couple of these sites looks suspiciously like the stuff I see displayed in the grocery superstore on my way to the produce department ("Danger, Will Robinson! Overpriced, gaudy jewelry dead ahead!").
While performing a random price search for sapphire rings, I happened on a link to a store called "Jewels for Me". I surfed over to the web site and took a look. What I found was an assortment of subtly different, stylish and very reasonably priced birthstone jewelry. High quality, genuine natural gemstones-not imitation or lab created. Solid 14K gold-not gold plated. "What's the catch?", I wondered.
Not trusting my own judgment, I showed my wife some sample pictures from the web site. She confirmed that Jewels for Me did have a rather good selection of styles. The positive Epinions review from melissaB_dt1 gave me the courage to go ahead and place an order.
The Jewels for Me web site is like their jewelry, simple and attractive. It was easy with a single click to see how each ring style looked with a different gemstone, or in white versus yellow gold. Placing the order was straightforward. I just selected the ring style I wanted in 14K yellow gold with a sapphire gemstone and clicked on the shopping cart. Shipping was free (for all orders $99 and above).
The ring arrived in the promised time frame and was as lovely and well made as advertised. My daughter adores her new ring (and the little free teddy bear that Jewels for Me ships with every order).
As an added plus, Jewels for Me carries rings in smaller sizes (down to 4). I can actually buy a birthday ring that will fit my 11 year old younger daughter right out of the box. Instant gratification.
One important word of warning: While the gemstones in the ring we ordered were of the proper size and quality, the gold band was thinner than I would have expected from looking at the picture on the web site. I suspect this is one reason that they can offer such a high quality product at such a low price. My girls are quite petite and have small hands, so they actually prefer rings that are this delicate. However, I imagine some people would be disappointed by the difference.

The opal ring that I ordered was very pretty but unfortunately ONLY TWO MONTHS AFTER BUYING IT THE OPAL FELL OFF. The ring had not been worn frequently or gone through any harsh circumstances. They have a limited warranty of only 30 days so I just wasted over $100 on their company. DO NOT SHOP WITH JEWELS FOR ME! They have cheap craftsmanship!

Incredible price on a beautiful peridot pendant. I received a confirmation e-mail for every step in the process & received the item in record time. I was even surprised to see how well presented the pendant was, with a little stuffed bear and gift bag. And let's not forget the classic velvet box. Admittedly, I had my reservations about purchasing jewelry online, but I would have none whatsoever when it comes to future purchases from Jewels For Me. They definitely convinced this skeptic that there still are online merchants who take great pride in their products and their customer service. It's safe to say that I was very pleased with this transaction!

This is the most shoddy craftsmanship I have ever seen, the baggettes on my ring look like they were inserted using a large chisel, the setting was virtually destroyed in the process. Do not buy from these people.

Imagine my disappointment when the engagement ring my boyfriend gave me that was suppose to last my entire life time broke... after 2 days!! I did not in anyway cause stress to the ring, hit it off anything, I even took it off when I slept because I never had any "nice" jewelry before and was scared to wear it in my sleep. I see now that was with reason. After two days of normal wear one of the prongs randomly fell off and my gemstone fell out! When I showed it to a local jeweler not only had the ring brackets been welded on when they should have been one piece, the actual stone was chipped! The only thing that I am thankful for is that this happened before the 30 warranty ran out, since after that it would have just been wasted money. Points for refunding the money.... Negative for everything else.
